How many over the counter pain medication do you use in a given day, week or month? For me, I used to take ibuprofen weekly, for back aches, headaches, and general aches and pains. I didn't think about the repercussions it might have on my body. I just did it, because that is what I was taught to do.
Later in my life when I learned about holistic living and became an aromatherapist, I was concerned about the impact these over-the-counter pain-meds were having on my body. My goal was to stop taking them; but, the fact was, I still had frequent aches and pains from schlepping around a toddler all the time, sitting hunched over at my computer for hours, and basically pushing my body to keep up like it did when I was a teenager.
So after putting my aromatherapy education to use, I formulated and tweaked some healing creams and blends for general pain and muscle relaxing that did the trick. And I can say, as of today, I no longer use ibuprofen to manage my pain. The really cool moment for me was when I sat back and realized I hadn't taken an over-the-counter med in a year for pain management and then all of sudden it was TWO YEARS!! Of course, using essential oils got me out of pain fast but I needed to make some changes to how I treated my body. Diet helps, stress management, the right stretches and exercises, and chiropractic adjustments are all apart of my continued healing process.
